Rectangle Pizzazz Class

Saturdays class with Judy Sisneros was a fun class. I learned so much. First thing when class started she had each class member bring up the fabric they had for the class and she told us if it would work in the quilt or not. Very interesting to see all the different fabric and colors that people had picked for the class.

Judy showed off a few of the quilts she made from the book Rectangle Pizzazz....but the quilt below is not in the book and is made with batiks. Beautiful.
Judy telling us about how she changed the box colors in this quilt.
The quilt below is made from one of the patterns in Rectangle Pizzaaa.
One of the gals in the class brought a quilt she made from Judy's book Nine Patch Pizzazz. Love the blue fabric and the way she used it in this quilt.
Here is my pile of fabric all cut with some of the blocks sewen together.
The quilt is set on point.....so I sewed two of the corners partly together and then laid out my blocks to sew it together in rows.
Marie managed to get her whole top done in class.....here it is laid out on the floor....beautiful.
My quilt was about 3/4 done when I went home.....so I sewed and finished it Saturday night. Below is a close up of one of the corners.
Here is the finished quilt top......I love the way it turned out, the fabric I used....it's a very spring...summer feeling quilt.
If you ever get a chance to take a class from Judy Sisneros please do it....you will learn something you didn't know and have a beautiful quilt done in no time.

The Dinner Last Night

I was installed as a new Vice President of Manteca Quilters last night.....that's me in the pink. We all had a good time.....good food and even had show and tell before we went home.
Joan showed her beautiful quilt that I've allready posted about. Here they are holding it up.
Lu-Anne is showing her daughter's charity quilt that she sewed together. Good job Amber!
Who knew....you can learn to dye shoes. MaryAnn is showing one of the shoes that she learned how to dye....so it will match an outfit.
Marie is showing her dog tooth star....made in a Manteca Quilters workshop in January.
Edie is getting into art quilts.....I was way to far back to get a better picture.
I will take pictures at tomorrow's workshop.....you all have a good weekend.

Rain..Rain....Go Away

When I went out to drive to work....it was raining....the weather man was right....go figure!

Joan is sewing on the binding on her latest creation......the beautiful quilt below. It was a block of the month....paper pieced....she received the pattern each month and fabric.....I believe she had to buy the background. For those of you going to Manteca's installation dinner Thursday night you will see it in person. Of course its a King sized quilt.

The machine quilting is wonderful.....well done....and took over 25 hours. It was quilted by Annie at Freedom Fabric. She is so good at quilting in free motion and coming up with the right motif. You have to look at the back....sorry I didn't get a picture.
Here is a close up of the corner.
Block of the month done......and I finished last week.....I won't be sewing it tonight....like I usually do. Cool block....lots of possibles with this block. I'd like to make it again....maybe I'll win tonight.
Hailie's bag is done.....I sewed on the handles last night. It turned out so well.....I have to make more. I really like the idea of embroidering the name on the bag.
Worked on part two of the mystery quilt......lots of cutting 1 1/2 pieces.....then sewing them back together. I really hate little pieces.....I'll soon be sewing little four patches together. Oh well I know it will make a beautiful quilt in the end. I have to get busy on it as part three comes out the first of May.
Tomorrow is the installation dinner where I will be installed as a Vice President of Manteca Quilters. It's the fourth time I've been VP. It is fun.....but a lot of work...booking programs and workshops. At least I have another VP to help me as we have two VP again this year. Wish me luck.

Cloth and Quilt Meet the Teachers

Last night was meet the teachers at Cloth and Quilt here in Turlock......now I don't miss a meet the teachers night. You get to see class samples and talk to the teachers and then decide if you want to take the class. It was fun.

Below is the class I signed up for.....Scrambled Eggs. You can use up scraps or start saving fat quarters to make it. Debi Salazar is teaching this class on June 22, a Sunday and we are going to have a potluck breakfast. Can't wait.....now to decide what scraps or FQ's to use.

This quilt is the sample for a class called Going Around in Circles, Saturday 31...the teacher is Marie Strait. Cool quilt.....I really like it.
Bargello quilt below, the class is on Saturday, July 10......a very fall looking quilt...not done is the usual high contrast colors.....very nice.
This is a Strip Club quilt...made with 2 1/2 inch strips. Each month there is a different pattern and different teacher. I don't know when they are doing this quilt. But I love it. Bright colors.
They held it up so I could take a better picture.....love this quilt.
These are just a few of the class and quilts that I saw last night. Take a trip to Turlock and visit Cloth and Quilts and sign up for a class.

The Bag for Hailie

Last night at the Tuesday sew I worked on Hailie's bag. The lining is inside with a pocket......I didn't have the straps with me...but once I sew on the straps and top stitch the top together....I will be done. See picture below.

For all you Manteca Quilters readers here is a picture of Natalie and Scott with the Opportunity quilt I won in March. Natalie did not know that I had won it......so they were both surprised and happy to receive it.

A Wedding Reception On A Dairy.....

The weather was in the 80's on Saturday and as you can see below the BBQ was even hotter. See the chicken cooking on the grill. It tasted so good.

Here's the guys doing the BBQ ing, they were in the shade of a tree in the back yard so they weren't too hot.

The happy couple....looking into the sun. That's the milk barn in the back ground.
Cheese cake wedding cake.....Scott loves cheese cake.
Happy father giving the couple a toast.
People eating.
Tables set up on the grass.....there are cows in the barn in the back ground.
This is the setting.....trees and grass.....everyone having a good time.
I'm glad the wedding is over with.....lots of work...but it was worth it. Visited with many friends that I haven't seen in a long time. Natalie and Scott will be opening up presents tonight.
