What I Made For The Boutique

Been kind of busy making pin cushions for the boutique at our show next weekend. I stuffed them with crushed walnut shells. See the picture below.....

I still have a few more to sew up.....I really like the sayings on these pin cushions.
Its hard to see the colors in the batik fabric I used....blue, green and purple and then I used a fabric that has measuring tape printed on it.
So come to the show and check out the boutique.....lots of cool stuff for sale.

Quilt Show.....One Week From Tomorrow

The Manteca Quilt Show is one week from tomorrow......one week from today I will be off from work and working hard to set up the show. I will begin my day in the boutique.....checking in members items. Helping set up the boutique.....speaking of the boutique the four cats below were made by Pegi and will be for sale in the boutique....the yellow one is from a sweater she bought and felted and then made the cat. The are so cool.....

Last night we held our membership meeting and all my pictures are from show and tell. Judy made the quilt below.....don't you just love it.
This quilt was used in her daughter's wedding for the guest to sign.....from where I took the picture its hard to sew where they signed. They used the Chinese coins to sign and write messages.
Judy's mother passed away in December and Judy had made this quilt many years ago for her mother. Now she has it back.....what a beautiful quilt.
This quilt will be hanging in our show.....you must come and see it. Three turtles swimming in a deep blue sea.
I managed to take this close up shot of the turtle quilt.......beautiful !!
Trudy is back for the show.......she lives in a motor home with her husband and travels all over the U.S....doing lots of sewing. She will have bags to sell in the boutique.
She made this small table topper.
Here is a log cabin bow tie.....never seen a quilt quite like this before.....made for a great grand son.
Don't forget......Manteca Quilt Show.....March 1 & 2.....be there or be no where.

Monday Sew

I finished this pillow case on Monday....made from flannel with sox monkeys on the main fabric. It's so soft and will be nice to sleep on.

I also sewed four premie quilts.....Beverly's was having a sale on flannel and I picked up these prints to make the quilts with. The green flower fabric is on the back of each quilt.
Its a nice rainy day today and I wish I was home sewing......

Spring is in the AIR !!!

On Sunday going down a road near my house I saw the first almond tree's blooming.....spring is here...the blossoms are just starting to come out. So I stopped the car and took this picture.

There were bees buzzing around this blossom......it must have gone because it doesn't show up in my picture.

I was in Modesto on Saturday and stopped in R Lily because batiks were 50% off......I picked up the fabric below for 50% off....not much to pick from but I like what I bought.

I also picked up the FQ batik for 50% off.....love getting fabric on sale.

I did get some sewing done yesterday.......pictures tomorrow.

It makes me smile just to see it.....and I want to go out and buy batik fabric. Found it at Ross.....love Ross.

Last night was the monthly meeting of my Oakdale Quilt Guild......the 2008 Opportunity quilt is finished. It is beautiful....I love the bright colors and black back ground.
Here Lily is holding a class sample......a quilt make with a jelly roll. It is the perfect spring quilt. I'm not taking the class but I love this quilt.
In April Inez is teaching us streak of lighting.......the quilt below is red, white and blue and one way of making the quilt.
Here is streak of lighting done in blue.......
Here it is done on a smaller scale.....Inez make it for me because I don't make big quilts.....it only takes six fabrics.

Last Night

Lots of quilters were at our Tuesday sew last night. Some were busy working on finishing quilts for the Manteca Quilt Show (March 1 & 2, 2008). I handed in my entries to Carol last night.....I have three quilts entered, two large and one wall hanging.

Dianah is trying to finish her bordelo lap quilt. I got a close up last night and LOVE these colors.

Betsy is sewing the binding on the UFO from years ago. It's a beautiful quilt.
I took this close up so you could see the quilting. Come to the quilt show and you can see it close up.
Joan finished her block of the month paper piecing quilt.....this is a big quilt.
Here is a close up of a corner of the quilt. It will be in next years quilt show.
Judy has her x block tile quilt sewn together......she was squaring it up last night.
Carol is working on her Christmas snowman quilt. This is the first square. Its going to be so cute.
Make sure and mark your calendar.....March 1 and 2 for the Manteca Quilt Show. Lots of quilts, wearable and dolls to see and vendors to spend money at......we all need to help the economy!

Look What I Made....

Remember the fabric from yesterdays post? Well here it is all sewen up into a pillow case....it turned out so cool. This is for the class I'm teaching on Thursday night at Oakdale quilters. I needed a class sample to show how the pillow case turns out with the French seams.

I've redone the directions for making the pillow case and used Publisher to make the examples on how to sew this pillow case. I'll know on Thursday night if my directions are easy to understand.

What I Bought At R Lily's Sale

Finally took pictures of what I got from R Lily's sale......I'm happy with the stuff I found there. I went the first day of the sale at about 4:30 after work. I picked up the book below to help with my machine quilting.....a really good book.

The pattern below is for 2 1/2 inch strips.....everyone seems to be sewing with 2 1/2 strips. Looks easy and fun.

Pictured below are two pillow case kits I found. I love to make pillow cases.

I picked up these 1 yard cuts and one FQ. I also got the two blue dish towels.
I did not buy this fabric at R Lily.......I got it at Joan's on Saturday.....love the red batik....what's it going to be.....stay tuned and you will see.

Tuesday Night Eye Candy

It's been over a week since I've posted. Are we all over the election? I got real tired of the ad's on TV...that's why I voted weeks ago with my mail in ballot. We didn't meet at the library last night because they were using our room as a place to go vote.

The pictures below were taken the last two Tuesday night. Lue-Anne's finished her aunts quilt...she had to finish most of the blocks and then sewed it together with the beautiful blue fabric. She just had got it back from Herd of Turtles and what a great job they did machine quilting it.

Here is a close up of one of the blocks. Good job Lue-Anne!
Sandy shared with us the hand dyed fabric she bought at Road to California......beautiful....don't know that I could cut it up.
Judy is working on her x block quilt. LOVE the purple fabric she used. Here is a close up of one of her blocks. This is the tile pattern
She's busy sewing rows together.....this is going to be a beautiful quilt.
More Tuesday night pictures tomorrow.......stay tuned.
